Is Social Networking Effective For All Celebrities?

By Rob Sutter

I don't think it needs to be said but social networking may just be the most important tool to come out of the last decade. I think that it's immensely important because it isn't just a realm which families and lonely individuals can take advantage of anymore. Even business have climbed onboard and it has become easily the most effective marketing tool anyone can imagine. Knowing the ways that certain figures in Hollywood act, though, does this necessarily mean that celebrities could constantly engage themselves in it?

In simplest terms, a social networking site allows you to showcase who you are. Basically, when you post, you're most likely going to speak in a manner that's most closely related to the way that you verbalize yourself in a real-life situation. For example, some of the sarcastic posts I put up are said jokingly and others know that I mean them in that regard. However, companies such as fishbat can tell you that celebrities, not unlike business, will have each word and action monitored.

What if a tragic event occurred in the world and it seemed like the right measure to comment on it? Businesses will find it best to post the most basic message, sending condolences. What isn't the best type of action, you may ask yourself? In my opinion, it's when a plug to a sale is placed into the post because it is seen as disingenuous and it does absolutely nothing to help that brand's image in the eye of the public, from the way I see it.

One of the best comparisons that I can make to celebrities and Twitter is how children are upon Christmas morning. It's like they want to try out every facet of their new toy and play around as much as possible, though I feel like those in the public eye abuse the privilege. For example, Kanye West composed a Tweet last year, saying that Kim Kardashian did not know what a blessing he was to her, which was egotistical to put it lightly. It's these kinds of comments which do not belong on the Internet.

As you can see, social networking can be done well in the case of companies expanding their markets. It's clear that this has become such a great platform over the course of many years and I believe that businesses would be wise to get onboard with it if they haven't already. With these methods being done in the most effective ways imaginable, there are fashions which go to show that not everything is golden and certain celebrities have made this very clear. Their words are amplified many times through the Internet, as would be the case for anyone's.
