The drink derives its name from two Japanese words, Kombu which is a seas weed and Kombucha which is the traditional squash. The drink is made by the process of fermenting sweetened tea. It is used by the Japanese as a functional meal. Kombucha recipe originated from the Northeast of China then it latter made its way down to other parts such as Russia. Currently the drink is served and enjoyed in most parts of the world.

Originally the drink is thought to have originated from China though some records state that this may not be as clear as thought before. It is clear though that back then it was known as the elixir of long life. Today it is known and referred to by millions as the mushroom tea which is in contrast as this blend does not contain any trails of mushroom.

As stated above this drink has lots of benefits associated with taking of this drink and you can prepare it within the comfort of your own home. In the subsequent paragraphs you will delve into the recipe and how to prepare it with a basic step-by-step break down for simpler understanding and execution.

For this recipe, you need: fresh culture, a cup of white sugar, and 100 grams of black, green or white tea per. A pot or a kettle of up to 4 liters, a glass container of equal volume, two bottles, rubber bands and a clean piece of cotton. You also need clean water and a source of heat.

You also need a kettle, a sieve, some spoons and clean dry towels. Start off by pouring the Kombucha (which you can get from the supermarket) and sweetened tea into a glass jar. You may also opt to blend a mixture of different kinds of tea as this offers you a variant taste and smell. Glass is preferred due to its nature as being clear and you cannot contaminate it easily.

Let the mixture ferment for between a week or two until it has attained the desired pH. Remove the culture and clean it using warm water. Add some new pot and add some culture into the jar. In order to enjoy this drink you are advised to leave it to ferment for at least 6 days. Serve in a clean glass and enjoy your drink.

The reason as to why this concoction is so common today is a no brainer as there are numerous advantages associated with it. Among them being the fact that it helps in the prevention of cancer, helps in detoxification process, increased immunity, enhanced vitality, cellular construction and overall improvement in the digestion process.
